Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a treatment program that was started by Marsha Linehan at the University of Washington, who created and researched this treatment for people with Borderline Personality disorder. It has also been found effective for people with emotion regulation problems. It is a skills based program teaching tools for emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and distress tolerance. The program consists of one hour appointments for individual therapy which includes chain analysis and skills training for one year.
